Suggest Remedy For Bumps Appearing Under The Armpits
I have had these red bumps with white pus, almost pimple like, under both of my armpits for about 2 and a half months. They both hurt and itch. My PCP gave me an ointment to put on them but there has been no avail. If needed I can send a picture for a better clarification. Please help! Thanks so much! Sarah Glover
Hi! Good morning. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.
From you history, it seems that you got recurrent infections of the sebaceous glands in both of your armpits. If I were your doctor, I would have advised you to avoid shaving the area or applying any irritant lotion/ointments to the area, and would advise you for a broad spectrum antibiotic for longer than normal duration. Depending on the improvement, I would also consider doing a culture/sensitivity test of the discharge coming out from these bumps to start the most appropriate antibiotic. Also a routine blood sugar estimation would be warranted.
I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.
Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. I wish you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
