Suggest Remedy For Burning And Itching After Applying Savlon On Injury
I had some scratch on my elbow due to a minor accident. I wash them with Savlon and applied Germigras dressing. Now the scratches are almost OK but the whole area which I cleaned with savlon become red with burning sansation. Etching is also there. Please suggest some treatment.
I completely understand your concern for the burning and itching after applying savlon on injured area.
It seems that you have developed contact irritant dermatitis due to application of salon on the area of injury.
Savlon or any other related chemical should never be applied directly as it causes a lot of burning and contact sensitivity over the affected area.
In my patients with your kind of problem I suggest them to do compression with cold water. Application of a cream containing mild steroid with antibacterial helps in both injury and the sensitivity too.
A pain killer tablet such as paracetamol can be taken to reduce the inflammation and swelling on the injured area.
All the best.
