Suggest Remedy For Clogged Ears With Wet Wax

My left ear is clogged with wet wax. The wet wax is new and the clogging normally goes away overnight. It s still clogged. I have a wad of toilet paper over this ear and I m tilting my head. Tugging seems to be working as I am now seeing the pale wax. What do I do?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi. You have impacted wax in your left ear. As the wax production increases in quantity it pushes wax deeper into the ear canal where it gets narrow and is difficult to unclog from.

Avoid inserting ear buds or other things to remove wax, you may end up pushing the wax deeper or injure your ear drum in the process. Also do not let water into the ears as the wax will swell after absorbing water and worsen the clogging.

In my opinion it is advised that you see your ENT specialist so that the wax can be removed under visualization by an expert to ensure no canal or drum injury occurs. You may apply wax dissolvant ear drops 3-5 drops every night for 5 days before having the wax removed so that the wax is soft and painless during removal.

Hope this helps. Do let me know if you have any other questions.
