Suggest Remedy For Constipation During Pregnancy

Hi My wife is in the third trimester (week 28) and she has a very severe constipation. She has used a glycerin suppository for about 45 minutes. However, no change yet! She feels an abdominal pain as well as pressure on her bladder. What should we do?

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history of your wife having pregnancy of 28 weeks and has developed severe constipation, inserted a Glycerin suppository about 45 minutes back but has no effects and she feels abdominal pain and pressure on her bladder.
I would advise you the following:
Repeat one more Glycerin suppository.
Sitz bath in a tub with warm water.
Consult your Gynecologist if there is no result and get admitted under her care so that some sort of enema like saline and soap may be tried.
Harsh measures can not be taken as it can induce labor.
Mild laxatives as per the experience of your Gynecologists with her patients can be given to get a relief.
Add on the foods and the beverages that help normal motion.
Stop all the foods and beverages that cause constipation.
I find this answer helpful
