I have been on ProairHFR for several days now. Just realized I m coughing, mucus in my throat which I cannot get rid of. Set up humidifer and have quit taking the ProairHFR. I have been thinking it s just allergies, but now think I m having an allergic reaction. What do you think?
HI. Thanks for your query. ProairHFR contains albuterol, which is used in cases of asthma or any condition which causes the small airways to cause constrictions. You are already using it for several days now. Now your problem is mucus in the throat which you can not clear. The easiest way is to take medicines called as mucolytic and take plain water steam inhalations, which help to loosen up and expel the mucus.
Also take antiallergic medicines (antihistamines) and antibiotic if there are signs of infection. Pulmonary function test and X-ray chest along with necessary blood tests completes the investigations to make sure that nothing else is missed.
