Been fighting heartburn for a long time. No over the counter drug works. My throat feels sore at times. After I eat I done feel well. And every meal I have an episode of food getting cough. I have to stop eating and wait for it to pass. Or throw up. I eat very slow.
I don't know who to see for help.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain the symptoms of heartburn, cough and sore throat seems to be due to Gastro-esophageal reflux disease also known as Acid Reflux and it can occur due to weakening of the bands of muscles at the lower end of the food pipe also known as Lower Esophageal Sphincter..
Due to weakening the food pipe does not close completely and it leads to reflux of acid from stomach to throat and mouth leading to inflammation of food pipe and cause heart burn..
Sore throat is also due to inflammation in throat with acid and coughing occurs die to throat irritation..
I would suggest you to consult a Gastroenterologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation like upper G.I Endoscopy can help in diagnosis..
In case of acid reflux you can be advised to take Proton Pump Inhibitors like Omeprazole, antacids like Calcium Carbonate, H2 blockers like Ranitidine, drink plenty of water, take small frequent meals, do moderate workout, avoid spicy and acidic foods, loose weight if obese and also sleep with head slightly raised as compared to feet..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
