Hello,
Your husband is suffering from cough and headache. He is also febrile since 2 days. You are suggested to get him clinically examined by an ENT, get throat swab test and culture done. Since he is febrile he has
throat infection.
Pharyngitis can be viral or bacterial, other factors that may cause him similar symptoms are influenza,
strep throat and
mononucleosis. Get him clinically examined by an ENT. If the ENT detects infection of any kind he will be treated with a course of antibiotics like penicillin.
People allergic to penicillin are treated with
Clarithromycin,
Cephalosporin (Cephalexin, Cefadroxil) or
Azithromycin. Your husband should give voice rest and gargle his throat with salt water 3-4 times a day. Give him cough lozenges so that he gets relieve from dry throat and hence cough. He should take liquid or semi solid diet so that he does not hurt his throat. He can take Combiflam, one SOS for relief from headache and fever. He can take antihistamine to reduce allergic reactions.
However, if he develops complications like palpitations, breathing difficulty, other severe reactions you should get him admitted in a hospital, he may need urgent medical support, treatment and management. Get him assessed by an ENT and GP at the earliest, so that treatment can be started.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
