My mother-in-law cleans the bathroom with a mixture of pine-sol and clorox. I have been breathing it in for a few days and have been coughing up phlegm, have trouble breathing and am wheezing. I'm leaving in 2 days and have asked her to stop using it around me. Do I need to see a doctor?
Wheezing is caused due to broncho-constriction (obstruction of smaller airway passages) which is indicative of Hyper-responsiveness of air passages.
Management consists of: 1. Asthalin+ Seroflo inhaler- provide symptomatic relief by causing broncho-dilation (dilating the smaller airway passages, relieving the obstruction & increasing airflow to lungs). 2. Montelukast preparations- used as a maintenance therapy to relieve symptoms of asthma. 3. Antihistamines like Cetrizine and anti-tussive preparations can also be used to provide symptomatic relief from cough. 4. Also make sure that you are well protected from exposure to cold, dust or other allergens.
