When a pore in your skin gets clogged, usually with dead skin cells, bacteria can get trapped inside too, causing the area to become red and swollen. When this infection goes deep into your skin, creating a red, tender bump full of pus we have the condition called Cystic acne.
Treatment options for cystic acne: -Oral antibiotics help control bacteria and lower inflammation but sometimes your acne may not respond to antibiotic therapy. -Birth-control pills help some women by regulating their hormones. - Topical treatment with retinoid, can help unplug your pores. - Isotretinoin, also known by trade name Accutane, fights all causes of acne. You take a pill once or twice daily for about 5 months. -Spironolactone is a medication that helps you get rid of unneeded water, but works also as a hormone blocker.
Hope this helps, Kind regards, Dr.Mersi
