Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I AM A RETIRED NURSE Practitioner who has been under extreme stress for the past year. I lost my only child, a daughter who was 56 years old Feb. 13th, 2014 and the day after she was buried I had a terrible email from my only sister because I didn t ask her son to be a pallbearer. I have an appt. with a Rheumatologist May 11 because about 4 months ago my hands started hurting and I could not make a fist with my left hand and a limited fist with my rt. hand. I have not taken any anti-infl. meds or pain meds. I know stress can cause multiple health problems but I am becoming so depressed and cry a lot missing my daughter and now health problems. I enjoyed wonderful health and never sick until this past year. any suggestions?
I went through your details. I can understand your emotions. I am inclined to sympathise, but I shall not do that. That simply because you don't want any sympathy. You are a nurse practitioner and you know what is frief related and stress related mental disorders. You are deeply grieving and disappointed and therefore momentarily depressed. Anyone going through such situations will be depressed, I am sure. Time will take care of your depression if you are able to move forward with your duties. Your pain could just be due to the grief related anxiety and obsession. I suggest you to consult a psychologist.
