Health is a state of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual wellness. Depression is a serious condition, it does not just affect the mental state but the other areas of health as well.
Medication is required for a period of time to treat depression properly. In addition to medication, therapy would also be helpful. It would be best to speak to your general physician so he or she can refer you to someone that may be able to help you.
There are a number of different medications available, if one does not work for you after an appropriate time period then your doctor will try another one.
I hope this helps
