Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello thanks for asking from HCM

Wysolon is steroid drug and long term use of steroids is known to increase the risk of depression. Once steroids are started then the doses of it are gradually tapered to prevent withdrawal. Taper the doses as told by her psychiatrist.

She is having depressive and obsessive symptoms and discontinuing steroid will result in some improvement but she should see a psychiatrist. In elderly low dose anti-depressant can help to improve the situation. Sertraline is used in elderly depression and it can be used in elderly without any risk. Provide her warm support and she will be alright.

Thanks, hope this helps you.
