Suggest Remedy For Difficulty In Urinating Properly

Hello, I ve been having problems going to the restroom for about three months. A few months ago, I started having to urinate about every 10 minutes or so. I thought it was anxiety-related and so I just tried to kind of train myself to hold it and try to go at regular times. It has come and gone a few times since then, but in the past week or two I ve been having trouble going to the restroom at all. I m really slow to actually start urinating and when I do, I never feel like I actually did everything I needed to and a few minutes later I have to go again. I googled it and the most common thing I found was urinary retention. I drink a lot of caffeine, so if I cut out my caffeine, could that help that to go away?

Urologist 's  Response
Hi
I suggest you get a few tests done which will indicate if you have a bladder outlet obstruction. These include an ultrasound of abdomen with an estimate of post void residue and a uroflowmetry. If the flow pattern is suggestive of obstruction, you could benefit from use of drugs belonging to a class known as alpha-blockers such as tamsulosin at 0.4mg once daily.
I find this answer helpful
