I slapped a mosquito on my ear and inadvertantly slapped the ear itself. Now I have some hearing loss. That was a week ago. I visited a specialist and she told me that my eardrum is flaccid or flexible. She gave me a steroid treatment to reduce inflammation. As a musician I am terrified I will never play ukulele again. What s the prognosis?
HI. With the proper treatment you will be absolutely OK and can play ukulele again. Take another opinion of another ENT Surgeon , go for complete ENT check-up, It is possible that the slap has caused the damage to the Ear Drum ( Tympanic Membrane ) and / or the internal structures like the chain of the smallest bones , so you are getting reduced hearing. Complete investigations including the Adiometry will help us to guide for the further management .
