I have just gotten Eczema for the first time in 56 years. I am miserable. The dermatologist says she has done everything. I am on Doxepin, a antihistamine, taking bath with olive oil, keeping moisturized. My Dr. put me on massive doses of prednisone that nearly put me in the hospital. I got a shot of kenalog which helped just a little bit. I keep finding a new eczema dot here and there on my body with no rhyme or reason. It is ruining my life! What can I do next?
hi, thankyou for putting a query on HCM. first of all, i will say, stop worrying much about eczema as it is a common condition, one may get. it can be treated and prevented by regular use of emollients and mosturizers. as u have already said u are taking bath with olive oil to keep it mosturized, i would suggest you apart from olive oil, you may also go for vaseline petroleum jelly thrice a day for keeping your skin hydrated and mosturized. if a shot of kenalog has helped you, you can continue getting shots of intralesional kenalog injections every 4-6 wks. you can also use topical corticosteroids like clobetasol propionate(0.05%)cream twice a day in between kenalog shots. i would say, stop worrying much and keep your skin hydrated to treat as well as prevent eczema.
