We have a nephew that seems to think that he can keep on drinking alcohol. He was baptized last fall seying that he had a vision and seems to think that what he is doing is ok,not! He got stopped 3 weeks ago not having a drivers license and was drunk, lost his 2nd car. He wants to go to Footprints Rehab center in Treasure Island, Fla. He has to go back to court on April 22, facing the unknown unless he decides to do something drastic! We as his aunt and uncle are at our wits end!!! He is 31 and should have his life under control. What do you suggest?
Deaddiction is specialized work. In difficult and chronic cases like him, help of deaddiction specialist or psychiatrist is required. Presence of personality disorder, anxiety, depression, financial and social issues complicate the deaddiction process.
It is also necessary to assess patient motivation for deaddiction. First step which you can take in his case is meeting psychiatrist and assess his case for deaddiction. Later on detailed treatment plan can be implemented.
