You may be aware that endometriosis is a condition that results from the lining of the womb spilling inside the tummy and seeding onto the surface of organs and their coverings. When it involves the ovary - it could grow into a blood filled swelling which can appears as a cyst on the ovary on doing the ultrasound. Endometriosis can affect the quality of life in many ways including pain - specially during periods and during sex. The fertility of a woman can be affected adversely. She can suffer from irregular and/ or heavy periods. Having said that, it is important for you to know that women with endometriosis do conceive and have normal births. Often the symptoms of endometriosis are suppressed during the pregnancy. It is difficult to give advice specific to your case, based on the information you have given. I would recommend seeing a gynaecologist who specialises with endometriosis. It is important to work up your hormone profile during periods and study the ovaries for follicular studies during your menstrual cycle, besides assessing the uterus and tubes with dye test. This can be done at the time of laparoscopy (camera check inside the abdomen) to confirm diagnosis of endometriosis along with hysteroscopy to rule out problems with inside of the uterus and the tubes.
