My aunt is 60 and has MS and IDDM. She is visiting from California. She is not taking meds and today her BS is 572 with prolonged sx of frequent urination, thirst and fatigue. She will not go to ER or family MD. I am not sure what to do. Any suggestions? Thank you! Michele

Diabetologist 's  Response
As she is IDDM she has to take Insulin injections to control his blood sugar level.
With such a high blood sugar level, I would advice her to start treatment as soon as possible.
If I would be her diabetologist, would recommend her to take rapid acting insulin injection before each major meal. And long acting insulin two time one in morning nd one in evening.
Once her blood sugar level is under control then her all symptoms will also be relieved.
Best regards
