Hallow Dear,
Vaginal discharge causing such symptoms can be categorised in three types:
1. White discharge: This again can be divided in two:
a. White curdy discharge with flakes. This is fungal discharge due to candidial of monanial infection. It is rather thick and causes lot of itching. The sourness at the
vulva even causes burning after passing the urine. It can be treated with
local antifungal medicines. Usually there is no need of systemic antifungal medicines.
b. White (greenish) flowing discharge. This is Trichomonal infection. This also causes lot of itching and burning at the end of urination. It can be treated by
Metronidazole.
2. Clear Mucous discharge: This is due to bacterial infection. Usually the itching is less. Treated by antibiotic.
During the treatment, please follow some norms:
1. This treatment is to be taken and the norms to be followed by both the sexual partners simultaneously lest reinfection.
2. Shave the private parts clean. The discharge painted up in the hair causes recurrence.
3. Use panty lines (female only).
4. Daily boil the underwear to kill the organisms painted in the underwear.
5. Observe sexual abstinence till complete treatment is over and both the partners are declared completely cured.
6. Cut the nails short. Organisms stuck up in the nails while scratching cause recurrence.
These conditions can be cured completely provided the
medical advice is adhered to.
Please report to your Gynaecologist with your partner and start the treatment ASAP.
I hope you have been guided properly.
