Suggest Remedy For Itching And Peeling Skin In Groin Skin Fold

hi there. the skin on my upper inner thighs and folds near my vagina have started to peel. the skin first went dark and is now peeling when it is dry and it rubs off like dirt wen moistened. the skin underneath is paler and pinkish on my dark skin. it itches sometimes when too dry what could this be caused by? how can i treat it? please help.

Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic.

This seems most likely a fungal infection of the groin (Tinea cruris).

I would suggest an OTC topical antifungal e.g clotrimazole 1% cream, twice daily for 2-4 weeks.

In addition to the topical antifungal, I usually also ask my patients to take an oral antifungal e.g fluconazole or itraconazole. However, as these are prescription products you need to visit a dermatologist for a prescription.
For the time being you may use an OTC antifungal and if it is not effective or not good enough you may visit a dermatologist for a review of the diagnosis.

You may take an OTC oral antihistamine e.g cetrizine 10 mg once daily for symptomatic relief from itching.
