hello doctor, portion of my body (between thighs and scrotum) is itching or a long time now, almost for one year... the itching tendency is more at night, the portion around the scrotum have itching tendency regularly and also the bottom portion of the scrotum sometimes... the condition is now worse that the skin colour there is changed (not red) and foul smell is coming... i will consult a dermatologist within 3 days, before that can u give any suggestion?
hello. I understand your concern. groin itching can be very problematic specially in public places.
groin itching is mostly because of fungal infection. but sometimes it can also be a neurogenic itch.
if such a patient walks into my clinic I would prescribe a course of antifungals like cap itraconazole 100 mg twice daily and sertaconazole cream along with antihistamines like cetrizine to relieve itching.
if it were to be a fungal infection it would improve with the treatment. if not then we need to consider other possibilities.
I suggest you see a dermatologist and get the area examined and start on antifungal Treatment.
hope this was helpful. for further queries please get back to us. thanks.
