Suggest Remedy For Itchy Red Welts On Skin Caused By Hives

My daughter was just diagnosed with hives by our family practitioner. She started itching yesterday, then red welts appeared on her head, neck, joints and lip area. She also has joint pain. Can hives do this or should we follow up with an internist.
