Suggest Remedy For Itchy Vagina And Inner Genitals After Removal Of Ovaries
I am 65 yrs old female. My ovaries have been removed in 2001. I suffer from extreme discomfort because of itching around the vagina and the upper portion of the genitals , the inner wall of the genitals. After scratching the skin becomes very tender, I cannot even use a small hand shower to rinse/clean. It becomes sensitive.
Hello, I have understood your concern. Since you do not have any ovarian supply of hormones, and I presume you did not also receive any hormone replacement therapy, the vaginal and urethral linings are likely to have thinned out. This in itself can cause decreased secretion, dryness due to decreased secretions adds to the picture to cause burning sensation and can lead to increased risk of infections. Dryness as well as infection can cause itching. I would suggest a clinical exam by an expert, a smear from the vagina and cervix, urinalysis and blood sugar and plan further management. Please maintain proper genital hygiene and if you happen to be sexually active, please make sure that your partner is free of any infection. Hope you find this information useful. Wish you good health.
