I have had burning pain with itching on superficial area of my vagina. it started out as a small area and now it s all around it. no discharge. no fevers. No odor. doctor put me on an antibiotic for possible bacterial vaginosis. I have completed 5 out of 7 days and I have not noticed any improvement. my menstrual cycle very normal. Becomes very sensitive during menstrual cycle and after intercourse, but is present all of the time, but only notice it when I wipe or cleanse myself. Dr. Said it looks irritated at my annual exam last week. Any thoughts?
You are suffering from itchy vaginal area and also burning pain in the affected area. No discharge, no odor or fever. You are suggested to take care of your hygiene. Clean the affected area with warm water and anti-bacterial soap. Keep it dry and clean. Apply ointment hydrocortisone on the affected area to reduce itching. You can take a course of Metronidazole (flagyl). The symptoms should get reduced.
Avoid touching, scratching and popping the vagina. Scratching will cause pain. You can take acetaminophen to get rid of pain and inflammation. Get urinalysis (R/E and C/S) done to detect UTI. You will be accordingly treated. However, get clinically examined by an OBGYN to rule out fungal infection and sexually transmitted diseases.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
