Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Two and a half weeks ago I visited a doctor s office regarding my right leg which has sustained 2 pygmy snake bites. I was told that the lymphatic system in my right leg had been damaged by the snake bites. Over the years, I have taken very good care of my leg. I wear compression stocking and use a compression pump when necessary. An employee in the doctor s office did an ultra sound of both legs. I had to stand while she identified the vein location. She then pressed very hard on my veins...I should have stopped the procedure. I have been confined to my home for most of the time in the past 2/or so weeks. My right leg hurts. What is your assessment. I am very concerned. How can I get over this. I am usually very active............this has been a nightmare. Thank you. Marlene R.
Hello, I have studied your case and I think that you have developed thrombophlebitis. in this condition there is inflammation of the blood vessels that causes severe pain in the leg. That pressure applied by examiner may have cause this. I would recommend you following. 1. hot water fomentation 2. Ointment Thrombofobe local application 3. Calf stretching exercises 4. rest and keep your leg elevated over pillow. You should continue to wear TED stocking. I hope this answer will be useful for you. Let me know if there is any other follow up questions.
