Hello. Following large swellings and bruising after hard falls on concrete, I am left with small, mobile, hard lumps just under my skin around the impact area (elbows and knees). Are these just lumps of scar tissue? Especially on my elbow the impact was heavy and it feels like the tissue under the skin has been mashed, and then clotted together in lumps. Any ideas?
Hi, they could be calcified hematomas. As you doubt, they could be collections of blood which have now turned hard due to calcium deposition. If they dont trouble you nothing needs to be done. We dont usually remove such lumps. But, if it is troublesome you should see your Doctor who can advice removal if absolutely necessary. Take care, Dr Rishi, New Delhi, India.
