Suggest Remedy For Migraine Problem

I just had a first incident of either labyrinthitis or vestibular migraine (not sure which). Terrible yesterday, much better today. Only took one tablet of meclazine, 5mg. zomig, and not other med. Still feel weakish, exhausted, a little dizzy. Want to know if I should push myself to do typical exercise (spin class, power yoga) or when to resume. Also, will this horrible thing resume. I finally reduced migraines to only one-twice a month with no more meds; don t want to have to start on meds again. Feeling quite sad about this!

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi.

I understand your concern.

Migraine has young onset / episodic / throbbing in nature / unilateral / associated with nausea and vomiting.

If frequency is less than 3 times in a month then it can be treated with medicine like sumatriptan / almotriptan /diclofenac and paracetamol etc.

Acute pain can be reduced with these medicines.

If episodes are more than prophylactic treatment is necessary. Prophylactic medicines like flunarizine / amitriptiline / topiramate / sod valporate / propranalol etc can help.

Choice is depend upon detail clinical history and examination.

Consult psychiatrist for better evaluation and assistance.

Thank you. Take care.
