General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted the history about your husband, 35 years, having nasal blockage for the last 2 months, CT scan shows polyposis, one ENT Surgeon advised immediately another said for 10 days medical treatment before surgery, wants to know what to do and complications of surgery.
With my experience I would advise you the following:
Consult the Second Surgeon and request for a 21 days course of medicines including oral steroids in a tapering dose if your husband is not suffering from diabetes.
Then repeat the scan and you may find clear sinuses hence no need of surgery.
Continue the medicines as would advised and repeat the scan after 6 months and if there is recurrence then only go for surgery.
Now-a-days sinus surgery by endoscopy is commonly performed and the rate of complications is very less in experienced hands ; the commonest being bleeding and recurrence.
All the best.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT and General Surgeon
