Suggest Remedy For Nausea And Dehydration

I woke up5:30 am est. Throwing up and diarrhea. I ve tried sips of water &/or ginger ale to get the taste out of my mouth. But can t keep anything down. I m now experiencing muscle cramps in my back and down my legs. My question is am I dehydrating and is there anything I can take to help the nausea subside?

Thanks for your question.

After going through your question, I can understand your concern.

There is most likely gastroenteritis in your case.

Due to inadequate oral intake and diarrhea there is development of dehydration in your case.

You should take Antacid with antiemetic like Pantoprazole with domperidone and/or ondensetron orally, if nausea subsides try to have plenty oral liquids with electrolytes, try to have curd and rise, any form of bland food. Avoid oily, spicy food.

If still there is persistent vomiting there may be need for intravenous antiemetic and antacid with saline.

There may be need for oral if not tolerated orally intravenous antibiotics.

You should consult your doctor for detailed clinical examination.
Depending upon it there may be need for following investigations-
- Complete Blood Count.
- Renal Function Test- urea, creatinine, electrolytes.
- Liver Function Test.
- Urine examination.
- Ultrasonography of abdomen and pelvis.
