About 2 hours ago I punched a countertop and now there's a large numb black welt on my middle knuckle. I figure it's just a hematoma as the pain is minimal and it feels like it's full of fluid, and I have ice on it, but any better ways to get it down quickly?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..
As per your complain large black welt over the knuckle after punching the countertop seems to be due to hematoma formation secondary to rupture of small blood vessels secondary to injury.. I would suggest you to continue icing the area or do cool compresses that should be alternated with warm compresses..
You can also apply Heparin containing ointment over the bruising for faster disruption of hematoma and fading of the clot.. You can also apply analgesic gel in case if there is pain.. Take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen..
Hope this information helps..
