Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son is 25 yoa and is an athlete, works out almost daily. 6 0 185 lbs. He is having problems with his arms and legs going numb. Legs start to go numb (tingle) when he sits on the toilet and hands and arms go numb if he holds a phone in his hand for a short time and when he goes to bed. Please any advice? He has insurance but it covers major medical only.
The symptoms of your son can be related to many medical conditions. Based on the fact that your son is an athlete the symptoms can be related to exercise. During exercise this muscle grips and presses on the sciatic nerve, causing the leg or foot below to go to sleep. Gentle stretching can actually help.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
