The tip of my tongue and the flap beneath it are swollen, sore and appears to have thrush. What could have caused it? I have used 50/50 peroxide and water to swish and then I swished with Lidocaine to make it feel better, but if course it's only a temp solution.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns...
As per your complain soreness and swelling of the tongue can be seen in case of thrush but in case if there is only soreness then it may be most probably be due to Apthous stomatitis and the initial phase before the ulcer are formed there can be redness and inflammation which is followed by ulcer formation.. In case if there is a cheesy white coating over the the tongue then the chances are most probable that it is due to yeast infection known as Oral Thrush. You should consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and in case of thrush antifungal mouthwash like Nystatin mouthwash and clotrimazole lozenges and taking more of probiotics like Yoghurt and garlic can help..
In case if it is apthous stomatits taking multivitamin and continuing the gargles as you are doing along with cold water rinses and sucking ice, avoiding spicy and sour foods can relieve..
Hope this information helps..
