I have a keloid on the left side right where the bra fits. its very mushie and gives me alot of pain. is there something i can do to cut down on the pain. i cant lay on my left side cause to put pressure on it makes it hurt like crazy. it feels like a million needles sticking me.
Keloids are the result of an overgrowth of dense fibrous tissue that usually develops after healing of a skin injury. However,it may be idiopathic..i.e. it may occur without injury.Keloids do not usually cause symptoms, but they may be tender, painful, or pruritic or they may cause a burning sensation. Sometimes, cosmetic concern is the primary reason patients seek medical intervention. In your case, you feel pain due to pressure on the lesion and you become uncomfortable.
Treatment for keloids includes occlusive dressings, compression therapy, intralesional corticosteroid injections, cryosurgery, excision, radiation therapy, laser therapy..etc
I usually in my patents give intradermal triamcenolone 10 mg injections fortnightly till good response. And also advise to apply hexilake silicone gel on the lesions twice a day for long time. Vitamin E cap 400 mg once a day may be advised.
I hope you got my answer.
Thanks.
