Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been jogging for about 2 years (about 2.5 miles 4 days a week) and biking one day a week (about 15 miles) also for about 2 years. Last week I noticed that when I slept on my left side that my left hip/top of thigh would hurt and the pain would wake me. Then I notice that when I walked I had a clicking sound from the same leg/hip/thigh with every step I took. I p.e. teacher/friend of mine told me that I have dry socket. She told me that the lubricating fluid in the socket was gone and that sometimes it doesn t come back. My hip-thigh joint has a dull ache to it and I ll stop jogging/biking. What can I do to heal the joint, collect more fluid, and what exercises can I do that will not be detrimental to this joint, but will allow me to continue to get exercise. I am a 51 year old female.

Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist, Sonia Dhawan's Response
Hi,
With age, the lubricants in the joints diminish, there are quite a lot of medicines and natural means of increasing the lubricant. However, don't expect it to work like a witch's potion to make you young. The joint Will still act its age. But the fact that it's only in one side and click sound do direct us towards other reasons like unstable joint or some ligament issue. Better get examined for the aforementioned conditions as well.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
