I am 45 overweight female 311lbs I have in the past 6mos suddenly been having problems with my lower extremities pain in both legs achy legs, hip pain, swelling keep in mind that i have joint hyper mobility dx osteoarthitis in hips and knees due to my weight. my ESR has always been elevated currently 38. it may be hard to believe but i am overweight but not from over eating i eat healthy and i am very active but i cant get my weight down. my weight fluctuates daily between 4-5lbs increase and decrease. i have read about leptin deficiency could this be my problem and should i be concerned about my ESR always being elevated?
Dear Madam, the first thing you need to do is to consult a Endocrinologist to see if any type of hormonal problem is causing weight gain. if you rule out any pathological cause then only you can correct weight by consultation with a dietitian, the knee and hip problem to some extent will improve wit reduced weight but if the joint have worn out you may need a joint replacement surgery.
