Hi, My wife is pregnant second time, she had completed 23 weeks. while lying down and changing position from right to left she is getting pain in the right side of Hip joint, but while changing position from left to right there is no pain. Earlier she was taking Shelcal 250mg but now she is taking Shelcal 5000mg. please advice why the pain is? Is it due to the reason that the baby is taking calcium from the mother?
Hello dear,i understand your concern. In my opinion it might be muscular pain or pain in the right hip joint.I suggest you to lie down in soft bed not that in harder ones.Keep extra pillow under right hip joint to avoid much pressure on it.Adequate rest is advised. In pregnancy some non specific pains are common which subside spontaneously on their own.Calcium taken by the mother is mostly taken by the fetus. But taking good amount of calcium rich diet along with 500 mg of calcium is sufficient.Dont worry.Take panadol for pain.If needed take ortho opinion. Best regards...dr.srilatha
