hello doctor i am 21 and i was diagnosed with kienbock s disease in july, i have researched it but i have a few questions 1) is kienbock s disease classed as a disability (i will be going to university in september and i need to know so i can know if i can sign up for extra help) 2) i was given co-codamol by the doctors but that isn t getting rid of the pain, i was wondering what other pain relief i can get (i am in constant pain and it has gotten so bad that it hurts to write) Amy
Kienbock's disease causes chronic pain and disability. Depending upon the stage of disease, if your pain doesn't subside with painkillers, you may go for cortisone injections in wrist or surgical intervention. Find a good orthopedic surgeon for expert opinion. It has certain complications if left untreated. Meanwhile, immobilizing your wrist may help in alleviating pain.
