I woke up last Sunday and am unable to raise might right arm without pain. I normally have a full range of motion. One of my 4 times a week exercises is arm twirls and arm curls with dumbbells.I figured I slept on it wrong. However it doesn t seem to be improving or improvement may be slight. My hands, fingers and elbow seem fine.

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

Painful arms may be a muscular problem or neurological or bone problem.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.

Take rest, use cold and warm compression.

Please get it done an X-ray of both shoulder joint, serum CPK, serum electrolytes or color Doppler of both upper limbs.

If symptoms not improved please consult your physician/orthopedician he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu,
