Suggest Remedy For Painful Foot Due To Recurring Fungi Between Toes After Shaving It Off
I have a bunion that constantly hurts on right foot. Podiatrist would like me to have an X-ray to determine if I need surgery or injection. Does that sound reasonable. I also have a fungi between my baby and 4th toe that seems to not go away. My doctor shaved it off more than two weeks ago, but it is still very painful with any shoes I wear. Any suggestions??
I agree with your Podiatrist for the need of an X-Ray of the foot. A bunion is most likely to develop when susceptible feet are repeatedly squeezed into narrow, pointed-toe footwear. The big toe pushes against the other toes, sometimes diving over or under them. As a result, the base of the big toe, the metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joint angles out from the foot. To judge how severe a bunion is, clinicians take an x-ray and measure angles between certain bones in the foot.
I usually also ask my patents to take an oral antifungal e.g Fluconazole 150mg once every week for 4-6 weeks.
An Antifungal dusting powder between the toes twice daily also helps to keep the area dry and prevent recurrences.
take care regards

Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM I agree with your Podiatrist for the need of an X-Ray of the foot. As a result, the base of the big toe, the metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joint angles out from the foot. To judge how severe a bunion is, clinicians take an x-ray and measure angles between certain bones in the foot. For fungal infection i usually ask my patients to apply a topical antifungal cream twice daily for 4 weeks. I usually also ask my patents to take an oral antifungal e.g Fluconazole 150mg once every week for 4-6 weeks.
