I hit my left side on the edge of a chair and now I have a lump that is very painful if I stretched or extended my left arm. I started sleeping with a heating pad and the pain of extending my arm is somewhat gone but not the total discomfort. Will the lump eventually go away or should I visit my physician?
Hi! Good evening. i am Dr Shareef answering your query.
From the history, it seems that the lump you developed could be due to a hematoma (collection of blood) formation in the part due to the trauma. Under normal conditions, it might get absorbed which could take some time. In case of persistence of the lump for a longer duration, you could get it clinically assessed by your family physician/orthopedic surgeon for appropriate management.
I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.
Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. I wish you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
hi and welcome to HCM . this lump is obvioously swelling of soft tissue or partial muscle rupture. it should pull back within 2 weeks. just rest, keep arm elevated and ice it. Wish you good health. Regards
