Hi,I am Dr. Radhakrishna (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been having lower abdominal pain. It's been on and off for at least a week now. It's just a hurt pain but it gets pretty strong at times. I tried using the restroom to see if that would ease the pain but it didn't. I noticed my stool had dark black looking spots in it. Not sure if that would mean anything.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted your history of pain in the lower abdomen for about a week. Stool had dark black looking spots in it. The probable reason for your suffering looks to be entero-colitis meaning inflammation of the small and large intestine. The dark black spots are indicative of bleeding somewhere in the intestinal tract changing to black.
I would advise you hte following: First of all to send the sample of stool for tests for 3 consecutive days Get started on a proper course of an antibiotic and metronidazole along with probiotic, symptomatic treatment. Ultrasonography of hte whole abdomen and CT scan to confirm if any positive findings. Colonoscopy. See the reports and results of the treatment and continue on as required.
