Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...HI I quit smoking 8 months ago mainly because of this cough. Well the cough is the same. I have had a ct and chest xray both clear. I also had a PTF also clear. I tried prilosec for about 3 weeks now no change. I have also tried Zyrtec for a week no change. My 6 yr old daughter now has this cough about 5 weeks speratic fits any ideas????"
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. Since you are having continuous cough, you should definitely get done fresh PFT (Pulmonary Function Test) to rule out bronchitis. If new PFT shows decline in lung functions as compare to previous PFT then you should definitely start inhaled bronchodilators (formoterol or salmeterol) and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) (budesonide or fluticasone). Family members are also at high risk of lung disease when they are exposed to second hand smoke. So consult pediatrician for your daughter to find out cause for her cough. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
