Hello. Thanks for asking from HCM.
I can understand your concern. Continous headache is usually due to
tension headache or sinusitis or mass lesion in brain or sometimes due to some other disease like gastritis/chronic infection.
To find out the cause, you need to carefully evaluate your symptoms and relate with above mentioned causes. Tension headache usually present with
dull headache, whole head, mostly after some visual straining, increase with bright light, less response to painkillers, usually relieves on its own. Sound sleep and painkiller like Diclofenac sodium give some relief.
Sinusitis headache is due to air
sinus infection in nose or skull bone. It is dull headache mainly in frontal region or below eyes, heaviness, headache more on forward bending or in cold, starts in morning and increase with time, some relief with steam inhalation. It is usually associated with
post nasal discharge.
Its treatment includes antibiotic therapy like co-amoxyclav, antiallergics and nasal decongestant which will be prescribed by doctor.
Mass lesion in brain can cause early morning
severe headache with heaviness or mild headache throughout day, associated with vomting, some focal deficit, seizures. It is serious condition which needs urgent treatment. Patinet needs evaluation by neurosurgeon and MRI or CT brain is needed to confirm diagnosis.
Gastritis or other abdominal condition can cause headache which disappear with correction of underlying problem. It usually occurs after
abdominal pain, vomiting, no relief with aspirin or other pain killers.
You can correlate your features and decide accordingly. Hope it will help you. If you still have complaints, you can
consult doctor for evalaution and management.
Take care. Thanks.
