hi there im 17 and 55kg im 5 2 and female. i keep on getting pins and needles and am an avid joint clicker but i ve recently stopped clicking cause im trying to get rid of the nasty habit and don t want joint problems when im older but i find that when i tend to avoid clicking i get pins and needles what could this be?
Deliberate clicking of joints like knuckles, elbow and shoulder was once believed as a sign of arthritis and some physicians believe that it due to tiny nitrogen air bubbles trapped between the joints once compressed leads to this popping sounds. Well the facts are still hazy.
If you are addicted to clicking of joints and as long it doesn't hurt or swell shouldn't be any problem, but by discontinuing such behaviour abruptly may sometimes lead to withdrawal symptoms like you are experiencing of pins and needles and as long as it does not disable you from doing your daily duties it shouldn't be any problem with time the pins and needle sensation will go away too. Stay strong.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Siddharth Kumar, Internal Medicine Specialist
