Suggest Remedy For Problems In Pregnancy

HI. I am 19 weeks pregnant and yesterday I had an ultrasound. the doctor says the values are ok except the values of the left ventricle which is 9.57mm and the right one is 10.5mm. I am worried. What should i do? I had recently an awful herpes infection in my neck. this may be the cause?

Hi,

Please don't worry. The scan shows mild ventriculomegaly on right.
But its less than 14 mm ,so there should not be any effect on your baby.
You will need follow up scan after 4 weeks to see if it stays the same or increases in size. This variations of normal can be seen in 3 in 100 pregnancies, and inmost no cause is identified.Only if it is associated witrh other abnormal findings we need to worry.

Recent herpes in neck indicates a secondary infection of herpes.Primary infections are the ones that can damage to the fetus. So, in all likelihood this scan finding is not due to herpes.
You could get a Ig G,IgM,of herpes as a confirmation to show if it has affected the fetus.

Hope this helps.
