HI, I recently smashed my finger in my car door. The nail didn't break but under the nail the skin split. Now, a week later, the skin has healed but under my nail still is purple and white. The white bit oozes yellow pus occasionally and when it dries it along the nail tip, it turns a nasty yellow orange color. The colored bits are not connected to the skin under the nail. It feels slightly sore but not painful. Should I trim my nail so that the white pus area is exposed then use bandaids and Neosporin? Or what should I do?

dear, first of all if your nail is overgrown, then only cut the nail. u should daily clean your finger with dettol/savlon & then put neosporin or any antibacterial ointment on the skin near nail. donot cover the nail with bandaid/ dressing. if U hav pain then you can take some pain killer, otherwise only apply ointment, it will also relieve the pain.
