I suffer from migraines regularly(3 or times a week) and often with nausea and vomiting if it goes untreated. I am taking a beta blocker daily and have sumatriptan to take when I have an attack. My insurance will only allow 9 sumatriptan tablets for 30 days. I can sometimes go through them all in a week or two leaving me feeling helpless until my next Rx comes up. Is it time to visit alternative preventative measures?
Migraine has young onset / episodic / throbbing in nature / unilateral / associated with nausea and vomiting.
Acute migraine can be treated with medicine like combination of diclofenac and paracetamol / sumatriptan / almotriptan . It can be taken as and when require.
Prophylactic medicines are best way to prevent migraine. Prophylactic medicines like flunarizine / amitriptiline / topiramate / sod valporate / magnesium valporate etc can be useful.
Consult neurologist and discuss about it. Take your doctors advise before taking any medicine
