Hello, I ve had recurring shoulder subluxations since I was in 8th grade and am now a freshman in college. As the years went on, the more my shoulder bothered me and the less impact it took for my shoulder to subluxate. It hurts to sleep all the time, and I can t remember the last time I went swimming without it popping out. I went to an orthopedic surgeon three years ago and diagnosed me with multidirectional instability. He sent me to physical therapy for a couple of months, and although it helped my shoulder feel better, it was still very unstable. A couple weeks ago I was doing jumping jacks and could feel my shoulder slide around. There is a constant clicking or popping sound whenever I move my shoulder now for two years. I even went to the chiropractor this spring during softball season where he used electrodes and kinesio tape on me to help with pain. Now even whenever I pick something up I feel my shoulder slide down a little bit. I m afraid to go back to the doctor, however, I am, but it s with a new doctor as my mom feels I need a second opinion. I understand you re not able to do a whole lot without an assessment, but what do you think he ll say? I m afraid I ll be told to have surgery, which honestly at this point I m willing to go with anything because this is so bothersome on a daily basis. Thanks in advance!
