Hi,
Thanks for writing to us,

Neck is one of the most dangerous sites for injecting recreational drugs. It has arteries, veins, tendons and nerves which are located very close together. There is a chance you have injured one of these during injecting. Other complications are abscesses and collapsed veins. An abscess in the neck can put pressure on nerves and can even block your air passage or damage your vocal cords. Not having an abscess in the past is no guarantee that you may not develop it this time.

The pain in your neck could be due to any of these reasons. It is advisable that you get it examined by a doctor for appropriate management.

Hope your query is answered.
