Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My right leg swells up from a little above my knee to the top of my foot. It hurts when I walk. I was told it was muscle pain and was given pain pills. It has been going on since Oct. I sit with my legs up in a lounge chair. It does go down over night, but as soon as I am on my feet it goes back up and hurts. What can I do about it. I have no blood clots, because that was checked out. I am waiting to go to a new doctor on Jan. 20th.
A common cause for swelling and pain in the legs (provided that a blood clot is ruled out, as you said) is insufficiency of the veins. An easy self treatment to start would be to wear pressure stockings. This will help with pumping of the fluid out of the legs when you are on your feet.
